Job Summary:

The successful candidate will provide key support to the Western Operations team by conducting detailed analyses and preparing related reports. Critical responsibilities include planning, developing and maintaining operational projects and initiatives related to inventory management and layout planning for the 6 Distribution Centres located in the Western Region.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Ensure distribution centre layout is tailored to a changing inventory and other constraints.

  • Conduct analyses of operational parameters and other statistical data.

  • Make recommendations for the entire region or for a particular distribution centre concerning Slot Info, minimum/maximum, expiration dates, days of sales in inventory, promotions, deadlines, etc., and come up with solutions for requests and projects related to operational change.

  • Help analyze and assess the impact of the proposed projects, while taking into account schedules and effort/budgets, and follow up with regional management to ensure proper implementation.

  • Ensure specifications meet deadlines and respect budget forecasts.

  • Conduct risk assessments, process improvements and any other process development phases in the region.

  • Assess proposed solutions with regard to risks, operational impacts and documents, if applicable.

  • Ensure operational solutions and initiatives are aligned within the company.

  • Share your analytical knowledge with the other team members and the other regions in Canada.

  • May lead a project or project team with a significant impact on company results, or may act as an expert in your field, providing ideas, opinions and advice to others.

  • Establish and communicate common goals and provide direction for projects; coordinate cross-functional communication, problem solving and team initiatives; and promote ideas and innovations.

  • Ensure compliance with and adherence to company policies and procedures.

Position Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of Devexpress, Access, Excel and AS400 (must have advanced proficiency in order to manipulate and extract system data)

  • Comfortable working knowledge of distribution processes

  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in operations or as an operations analyst

  • Bilingual (English/ French) an asset

  • Proven track record in preparing operational analyses and business plans

  • Organized and methodical, with a thorough work method

  • Responsible, logical and meticulous

  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Able to work independently

  • Experience in project management, including practices, techniques and tools

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Able to work as part of a team

  • Training in Lean Six Sigma (an asset)

  • Travel (minimal) required
