Current Need

As McKesson continues to leverage spend on an enterprise-wide scale, strategic sourcing and category/supplier management are critical aspects of the corporate strategy. The Sr. Manager of Strategic Sourcing will lead the development of category strategies, design sourcing plans, oversee negotiations, implement contracts, lower total costs, and drive successful supplier relationships. The Sr. Manager is also responsible for ensuring strong alignment with, and becoming a trusted advisor to, key business unit leaders and stakeholders. This position will report directly into the Director, Strategic Sourcing, and will lead multiple important initiatives across the company on an enterprise basis, as well as for each individual McKesson business unit. The Sr. Manager will also partner with business and sourcing leadership across the company, including McKesson’s international business units, to drive global value.

Position Description

  • Together with business unit leadership, defineand implement the long-term sourcing vision and near-term sourcing strategy fortransportation and distribution center operations

  • Develop risk / probability adjusted multi-yearsavings forecasts, and pipeline of annual savings goals

  • Develop category strategies based on sourcingprofession best practices, such as the “seven-step sourcing process” or similar

  • Oversee analysis of qualitative and quantitativesupplier characteristics, including supplier capabilities, supplier goals andobjectives, risk profile, and supplier's financial position for requisitecategories

  • Leverage internal and external resources todeliver results in the most effective and efficient way

  • Implement staff training and developmentprograms to enhance general leadership skills, sourcing expertise, and domainknowledge

  • Implement a supplier segmentation program thatdifferentiates the sourcing/management model for different supply categoriesand suppliers

  • Oversee development of multi-year sourcingpipelines that drive total value, including cost savings and supplierinnovation

  • Develop programs to achieve corporate supplierdiversity objectives

  • Manage all sourcing activities, including RFI/RFPdevelopment, contract negotiations, pricing models, and implementation fordesignated categories

  • Drive corporate compliance to thepreferred-supplier program via end-user change management and communicationsprograms

  • Manage day-to-day operational support for selectprograms, including but not limited to Transportation, Small Parcel, Couriers,Private Fleet, LTL, and TL, to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction

  • Work closely with Procurement Operations andCorporate Payables to ensure a seamless end-to-end experience for employees

  • Develop trusted advisor relationships with keyexecutive leaders as advocates; work with those leaders to identify initiativesand team resources and structures to execute those initiatives and to generatesupport and advocacy for the sourcing programs

  • Drive change and behavior through influence andcollaboration

  • Implement leading sourcing practices forenvironmental sustainability and supplier code of conduct

  • Mitigate legal and commercial for McKesson

  • Demonstrate impeccable ethics and fully supportMcKesson values and behaviors

Minimum Requirements

5 years purchasing experience including 2 years management experience

Critical Skills

  • 5-7 years of Supply Chain experience

  • 3-5yr Sourcing managing key categories

  • Transportation experience a MUST.

  • Demonstrated experience in defining the vision,mission, strategy and tactics for sourcing transportation and distributioncenter operations

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, bothas a lead and as a part of a team

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills,including interpersonal, assertiveness, courage, and the ability to influenceothers

  • Business analysis skills to drive and implementsourcing programs and services aligned with business partners strategies

  • Excellent relationship management skills,demonstrating mature confidence and integrity

  • Ability to work in a team environment to collateand act upon feedback from all levels within the business and sourcingenvironments

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities ofbusiness partners in a complex, multi-business unit environment

  • Demonstrated experience in supporting supplier diversityprograms

  • Expertise in eRFX, contract and analytics tools

  • Business case development skills

  • Advanced analytical skills

  • Proven project management skills

  • Outstanding presentation skills

  • International experience preferred

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Thorough knowledge of purchasing policies, practices and systems, and demonstrates leadership skills

Education

4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience:MBA preferred
