GCO Docketing Clerk
The McKesson General Counsel Organization (GCO) is looking for an experienced docketing clerk to assist in recording, tracking, and reporting on information relevant to many of its law department teams, including intellectual property, litigation, employment, and bankruptcy.
Specific Responsibilities and Skills
Reviews incoming and outgoing correspondence for key dates requiring docketing and accurately enters into the various GCO databases
Manages docketing deadlines relating to McKesson matters, taking action or placing them in front of relevant team members as appropriate
Generates due date and customized docket, trademark and patent status reports as requested, and collaborates with IP team regarding same
Generates due date and customized calendar and case filing deadlines for litigation, bankruptcy, employment, and other teams
Creates new matters in GCO docketing systems and confirms the accuracy of new matters in the legal billing system (Thomson Legal Tracker, formerly known as Serengeti)
Provides quality assurance for docketing and corrects inaccurate docket entries when needed
Updates information in the Docketing System, including individual country laws where necessary
Assists with the timely and accurate filing of incoming correspondence in our GCO document management system (NetDocs) after docketing
Manages multiple priorities in support of attorneys and paralegals
Strives for continuous process improvement in the docketing function
Leverages existing technology to provide metrics and reporting to address various business needs for information regarding status
Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders for the integration of new matters and files and the transfer of matters and files as needed
Assists as needed with payment of annuities and confirming the accuracy of annuities payments
May assist the Operations Team leadership in new docketing software/database testing as requested
8 years advanced administrative support experience
High proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Adobe
Minimum 2 years of legal docketing experience, is required, Paralegal training or Associates degree preferred
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Attention to detail and an ability to focus on repetitive tasks
Ability to work independently in recognizing docketing anomalies, conducting appropriate research and resolving the same
Experience in litigation and trademark docketing is preferred
Experience with the NetDocs Legal Document Management System is preferred.
Proficiency with technology and the efficient use of technology for organization, reporting and automating docketing processes
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Highly organized, self-directed, efficient time management, ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks
HS Diploma, Vocational Training or Equivalent. An AA degree is preferred.
