Current Need

The Junior Windows Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of an enterprise Windows and Active Directory infrastructure. The administrator should be well-versed in Windows systems (versions 2008 through 2016) and able to perform basic PowerShell scripting. Working knowledge of McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator and Anti-Virus is a plus. Knowledge of Red Hat/OEL/CentOS Linux and VMware ESX versions 5 and 6 would also be favorable. Additionally, knowledge of Tanium and SentinelOne

Knowledge and basic understanding of infrastructure services: RDP, WMI, SMTP, DNS, NTP, SSH, HTTP, and SNMP. Additional technologies would be a plus, but not required: Veritas Netbackup, Ansible, Lumension PatchLink/Ivanti Patch for Windows, VMware Horizon, virtual machine orchestration, MS-SQL server, and CyberArk Password Vault. Ability to work well with senior engineers, developers, and QA analysts. Working knowledge of scripting languages: (required) PowerShell and Batch; (bonus) Python and Ruby; (nice-to-have) BASH, C, C , JavaScript/Node, HTML.

Position Description

Responsible for systems administration, including: implementation, configuration, maintenance, and problem triage of Windows systems infrastructure.


  • Requires knowledge and experience related to enterprise Windowsand Active Directory administration.

  • Solves complex problems.

  • Works independently on assigned tasks and projects under theguidance of senior administrators and engineers.

  • Demonstrates technical expertise within their technology.

  • Coordinates software releases and system updates/patches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installs new software releases and system updates, evaluates andinstalls patches, resolves problems, and performs system configurations.

  • Performs system backup and recovery.

  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policiesin selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Monitors and manages system resources and response time tomaintain system efficiencies.

  • Maintains an already implemented system design.

  • Writes or modifies scripts to perform systems administrationtasks.

  • Regularly participates in cross-development work teams with somecross-functional interaction.

  • Regularly takes on-call assignments.

Key Differentiators

Minimum Requirements

2 years experience in network systems administration

Critical Skills

  • Candidate will be required to demonstrate scripting skills of oneor more of the following languages: PowerShell or Batch. The scriptingdemonstration will include: environmental variables, conditional statements,loops, I/O redirection, text filtering, text output, and user input.

  • Candidate will be required to demonstrate Windows and ActiveDirectory proficiencies related to and including: administration,troubleshooting, basic disk and device management, network configuration andtroubleshooting, system updates, and general maintenance.

  • Candidate must be able to competently discuss concepts related to:Windows, Active Directory administration, continuity (backups, restores, dataintegrity), and basic network operations.


4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
