The Role

As a member of the Global Talent Management team, the VP, Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for developing and driving McKesson’s enterprise-wide Diversity & Inclusion vision and strategy. The leader will focus on executing a strategy that supports a diverse workforce, enables an inclusive culture, and creates an environment where differences are embraced and used to better serve the needs of customers. Inclusion is central in the evolution of a culture that supports business and individual growth, and ensuring it is embedded throughout the employee, manager, customer and key stakeholder experience is a central tenet to this role. Key stakeholders include the Chairman’s Diversity Council, the Board of Directors, the HR Business Partners (HRBPs), the Talent Management Leadership Team (TM) and employees and leaders around our organization.

Key responsibilities,

  • Serve as McKesson’ssenior most diversity leader, responsible for guiding efforts and creatingopportunities to define, assess and promote diversity and inclusion and alignefforts to McKesson’s business strategy and operations; this includes guidingthe efforts of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)

  • Serve as the advisorto McKesson’s Chairman’s Diversity & Inclusion Council, advising the CHROand SVP Talent Management and guiding the Council with both internal andexternal insights as it relates to efforts, initiatives and mostly outcomes

  • Provide consultationto the Talent Management team when designing, embedding and implementing Diversityand Inclusion processes in;

  • Reporting and dataanalytics

  • Culture and engagement

  • Learning delivered vialeadership development

  • Succession planningand executive selection

  • Act as thought leaderand advisor to the HRBPs, business unit, inclusion and diversity councils, ERGsand leaders; work directly with HRBPs and TM to support strategic planning thatwill drive an engagement and inclusion strategy that enables diversity

  • Partner on thedevelopment of the annual report alongside Corporate Communications and theCorporate and Social Responsibility team

  • Partner with otherfunctions and BUs to ensure that our diversity and inclusion philosophies are embeddedin our work environments (for ex: disability support through IT and RealEstate)

  • Deepen the impact ofERGs and leverage them to drive business and talent development innovations andinitiatives; assess industry practices of ERGs and how they are evolving

  • Serve as subject matterexpert and partner with Talent Acquisition to drive targeted diversityrecruiting initiatives; leverage industry and internal best practices asappropriate

Candidate Profile

Demonstrated track record of success in developing and managing diversity and inclusion strategies, and in gaining support from stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment

Prior experience in developing targeted diversity recruiting strategies and implementing proven approaches to attract and hire the right talent to the organization

Diverse Business Leadership, Human Resources and/or Talent Management experience a plus; experience with subject matters related to EEO a plus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an inquisitive disposition

Demonstrated track record of taking initiative, leading large complex projects, working in a fast-paced federated environment and handling multiple and changing priorities simultaneously

Strong business and customer orientation

Excellent interpersonal and consulting skills; ability to assess needs, collaborate and deliver practical solutions that drive results

Highly organized, attention to detail and excellent follow-through required


Collaboration andInfluence

Ability to influence and mobilize colleagues and create accountability with different communities across the organization (BU Presidents, etc.)

Partner with Business Leaders, HRBPs and TM to both develop and run the strategy


Strategic mindset in analyzing external and internal opportunities within the lens of McKesson’s diversity and inclusion goals

Thought leadership in shaping, selecting diagnostics and solutions that work

Ability to learn business priorities and challenges; commonalities and differences across multiple business units and navigate and build a strategy that supports


Executive presence and a strong grasp of techniques to motivate, mobilize and lead others

Minimum Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of experience within a complex and high-growth organization

Significant knowledge and engagement in diversity and inclusion field; recognition and leadership in diversity organizations is a plus


Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or similar field; Master’s preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must have ability to travel a minimum of 25% of the time
