Position Description

The BI Developer is responsible for supporting the on-going development and configuration needs of the US Pharmaceutical reporting systems and underlying databases. The support provided is for all business groups within the Customer Experience Operations group. The BI Developer works with internal business units and key stakeholders to analyze their requirements, develop designs, and implement an overall BI Reporting infrastructure and strategy using a variety of reporting technologies.

  • Define and manage stakeholder businessrequirements for technology project development.

  • Manage new and ongoing BusinessIntelligence (BI) Report Development.

  • Responsible for databaseadministration in support of BI Reporting, Tableau, and SFDC CRM Systemfunctionality.

  • Manage the development and on-goingmaintenance configuration necessary for system integration tools to ensureclean and accurate reporting and leveraging data from outside data sourcesin an automated way.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • SQL Programming and DatabaseManagement: Strong knowledge of SQL programming and database managementand ability to apply this skill nearly on a daily basis.

  • BI Knowledge and Experience: Strongknowledge & 3-5 years experience developing with various BI tools suchas Business Objects, Tableau, MicroStrategies, etc. Use of these tools in various manners isa daily requirement to meet customer needs.

  • ETL Tool Experience: Experience withenterprise integration tools and extract, transformation and load (ETL)tools. Additionally, a frequentresponsibility in order to pull the information needed and used in theabove responsibilities.

  • Database Design and Configuration:Experience design and maintaining large SQL or Oracle databases, ETLintegration middleware configuration and administration and Reportdevelopment (e.g. Informatica, Cast Iron) and the ability to perform thesetasks to meet business reporting requirements.

  • MS SQL Server Knowledge: Expertise inMS SQL Server including ability to write SQL Query, Stored Procedure, SSIS,SSRS and set Job schedule. Thesetie to scheduled reporting efforts and are a daily requirement andresponsibility of the position.Accuracy in these is vital.

  • Data Analysis and DashboardDevelopment: As our primary direction for visualized reporting, advancedexpertise in data analysis and building dashboards in Tableau with throughunderstanding of visualization principles and how to tell a story withdata is a key responsibility of the position

  • Decision Making and Analytical Skills: Given theexpectation and need from the business, strong decision making and analyticalskills is an important aspect of the position.The role is more than just creating reports, but includes someunderstanding and ability to foresee future questions and need. This can only be done with these skills.

Minimum Requirements

  • 4 years experience in business analysis, requirements definition, building systems solutions and deployment of business requirements to information systems.

Critical Skills

  • 4 years experience in designing,building, and implementing business solutions using information technology

  • Excellent and effective business communicationskills both verbally and in writing; facilitation experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office

  • SQL, Tableau, Business Objectsexperience required

  • Must be open to flexible day hours, Mondaythrough Friday; must also be open to adjusting shift and overtime as needed basedon business requirements, as well as being available for emergencies

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Collaborative, customer-focused andable to create visible value.

  • Knowledge of project managementprinciples

  • Understanding of database architectureprinciples

  • Ability to be self directed andanticipate needs of the end customer with ability to translate those needsinto technology solutions

  • Web development experience would be a plus

Education

  • 4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
