Current Need: Director Pharmacy Solutions / Oncology, Remote Based Opportunity

Position Description

The Director of Pharmacy Solutions is responsible for the following:

  • Development and implementation of pharmacy solutions strategy for The US Oncology Network (The Network)

  • Working collaboratively with The Network practices, leadership and McKesson Specialty Health (MSH) leadership to implement processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality comprehensive cost-effective pharmacy services that meet regulatory, quality and contractual obligations.

  • Supporting the efforts of The Network Pharmacy Strategic Programs team, Operations team, GPO, Managed Care. Participates with the Pharmacy Solutions team to establish The Network strategic plans and objectives. Directs the Pharmacy Operations within the assigned practices.

  • In collaboration with MSH leadership, GPO team, The Network operations team and Network practices, we develop and implement strategies to optimize drug contracting, managed care, and drug use initiatives.

  • Development and implementation of strategies to assure pharmacy services meet and/or exceed regulatory, quality and contractual obligations including setting standards for efficiencies and implementing standardization when appropriate across The Network practices.

  • This role would additionally provide practice- based feedback to MSH and appropriate teams regarding clinical programs, tools and services. Communicate suggestions for improvement, opportunities for new tool or service development to relevant personnel and/or teams.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8 years of pharmacy experience including 5 years managerial experience (Please note that specific business units minimum years of experience may be different, and may require pharmacy certification depending on state law)

Critical Skills

  • Extensive management in infusion oncology pharmacy required

  • Strong working knowledge of community oncology practices. Business development experience with community oncology practices highly preferred

  • Knowledge of payer, regulatory, compliance and licensure issues at the federal and state level relative to community oncology pharmacy

  • Proven experience managing many diverse projects and programs related to oncology pharmacy services that have demonstrated positive results on patient outcomes are required

  • Success managing ongoing relationships, including primarily by remote communications and technology (phone, email, web conference, O365) preferably within Specialty and Retail Services

  • Travel up to 50% to client sites, business partners and internal meetings

Additional Knowledge and Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of inventory management, pharmaceutical receiving/shipping operations, and state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services

  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, problem solve, analyze data and articulate systems/ strategies improvements

  • Proficient in the use of new medications and technology

  • Detail oriented with excellent communication and computer skills including knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word

  • Experience providing strong customer support within a matrixed environment

  • Proven fiscal management skills

Education

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent required

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred

Certifications/Licensure

  • Active registered pharmacist license required

  • Board Certified preferred
