Current Need

Human Resources Development Program (HRDP) Intern

Position Description

The McKesson Human Resources Development Program offers an exciting, 10-week summer internship designed to develop top MBA/Masters students into high-performing HR professionals and exceptional leaders who will make an impact on the future of healthcare. Interns will gain an understanding of the broad scope of McKesson’s business and HR Operating model through a focused, specialized project where they will dive deep into their HR sub-function and deliver a high-impact assignment to the business.

The internship consists of ten weeks, with learning and connecting within the McKesson HR field and cross-functionally. The internship has an Orientation at McKesson headquarters (San Francisco, CA) where interns will learn about key business functions, units and HR areas from senior leaders. The summer is also punctuated by a mid-summer session, which includes professional development, community work, as well as networking opportunities with other graduate-level interns and senior/executive leaders. Interns will conclude their ten weeks with end-of-summer presentations to senior HR leadership, their direct managers and any additional stakeholders.

Throughout the summer, HRDP interns will have opportunities to connect with and learn from the broader HRDP Associate group, network & partner with various functions and tour McKesson facilities. Likewise, the internship will enhance personal career development through direct senior leadership engagement, formal and informal feedback and mentoring and formal training and development integrated with McKesson’s Center for Learning.

Projects/assignments over the course of the summer can be in Talent Management, Workforce Intelligence, Compensation, Employee Relations, Learning & Development, Organizational Design, Project Management, and Business Units (i.e. US Pharma). Location placements are available at McKesson’s main offices, where interns will have opportunities to remain close to major metropolitan cities. These include San Francisco, CA, Alpharetta, GA, Irving, TX and The Woodlands, TX. Assignments will be based on intern interests and business needs.

Program Elements:

  • Exposure to Talent Management/Organization Design, OperationalExcellence, HR Strategy, and Organizational Culture and Change

  • Orientation program at McKesson headquarters with program peers

  • Regular learning and social events designed to connect HRDP Interns and Associates,as well as interns working across different functional areas throughoutMcKesson

  • Challenging assignments in a variety of HR functions

  • Exposure to and mentoring from Senior HR leaders within McKesson’s HR organization

  • Specific executive presence development during end-of-summer presentationsto senior HR leaders from across the company

  • Formal leadership training and foundational development (i.e. leadershipworkshops and trainings, ongoing feedback, presentation skill builders, etc.)

  • Ongoing feedback from you on improvements and upgrades to the program

Minimum Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in a degree program for the duration of the internship to be eligible
