Position Description

Identify and analyze key legal, regulatory and business issues to (1) effectively coordinate business terms with business partners and, (2) with minimal guidance, draft, review and revise provisions in pharmaceutical purchase contracts for attorney review. Able to work independently and assess when to seek guidance of supervising attorney, located in San Francisco. Requires a keen understanding of the business, legal, and healthcare regulatory requirements relevant to McKesson’s distribution agreements with pharmaceutical manufacturers.

The Senior Legal Specialist role will include the following:

  • Commercial Pharmaceutical Distribution Contracts:

  • Identify business, legal and regulatory issues incommercial pharmaceutical distribution contracts and projects;

  • Draft, review and revise complex commercialpharmaceutical distribution contracts under attorney supervision;

  • Communicate with internal business partners on therequirements for and status of contracts; and

  • Manage work on multiple deals in fast-pacedenvironment;

  • Undertake contract research projects to identifyspecified terms or key issues across multiple agreements.

  • Project management skills with the ability to managesimultaneous projects in an efficient and timely manner;

  • Keep Deal Tracker to identify stakeholder with primaryresponsibility for each agreement at any given time (e.g., legal, businesspartner, counterparty).

  • Work closely under supervision of responsible attorney,and exercise independent judgment in escalating issues within broadlydefined practices and policies.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8 years paralegal or legal experience

Critical Skills

  • 5 years’ experience reviewing and revising complexcommercial contracts.

  • Proficient in Office word processing programs, orequivalent programs.

  • Experience working in pharmaceutical and healthcareregulatory environment, ideally with pharmaceutical manufactureragreements.

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with clients and promotethe reputation and integrity of McKesson and the McKesson Law Department.

  • Experience working in a healthcare regulatoryenvironment preferred.

Education

  • 2 year associates’ degree and/or paralegal certificatewith 11 years related work experience; or

  • 4-year degree (preferred) with 9 yearsrelated work experience; or

  • JD with 6 years related workexperience
