Current Need

This individual will report to the VP, Finance for McK 2021 Spend Smarter Program and will be responsible for overseeing the control and monitoring component of the Spend Smarter program. Success in this role can be measured by the individual’s ability to support the successful development and implementation of tools and materials that drive sustainable cost savings, track program results across the enterprise, communicate those results across the organization and to senior management, and enable and drive accountability. This leader will need to be an effective change-agent, leading a significant shift in the organization’s spend behaviors and norms across key categories of spend.

Position Description

Responsible for managing, preparing, administering, and directing the control of the budget. Manages the activities of the financial analyst staff. Reviews and approves recommendations for financial planning and control. Monitors division and department adherence to approved budget.

Leadership – This individual is responsible for leading not only their own team’s success, but also the success of the entire Spend program which is a highly visible enterprise-wide initiative. This requires the ability to be collaborative, to earn respect and buy-in from leaders above and below them, and be able to push back when appropriate. The ability to influence is critical as this individual will often be managing up and need to be able to effectively influence outcomes. This individual should be viewed as a strong leader and someone people want to work with and support. An ability to think outside the box and be strategic while also designing solutions to support business leaders from their perspective (sitting in their seat) is important. Additionally, as a people manager, he/she should be meeting with his/her teams regularly, clearly communicating expectations, ensuring that the right work is being done (value-add) in the right way (continually driving efficiencies) by their teams, providing development opportunities for his/her employees to grow and expand and overall working to improve engagement levels within their teams. He/she needs to be able to manage their detailed responsibilities down to their team, so they can have time to take a high-level view and tell the reporting story for an executive audience.

Executive presentations as required – Pull together presentations and program. Executive presence is critical.

Confirm reporting system and tools and determine plan to pull in data from ancillary systems (Ariba, A/P, T&E, etc.). Confirm visualization tool to be used for ongoing reporting/dashboarding. Assure there is a single source of truth for reporting data. Collaborate across the Indirect Procurement reporting team to ensure accurate and consolidated reporting for both Spend and Indirect Procurement is being completed and tracked as it flows through the BU & Corp Functional P&Ls.

Lead Reporting working team to ensure program success.

Generate reporting/Track Results that meets both short-term and long-term needs and is clear, accurate and actionable.

Coordinate closely with BU & Corporate Functional finance leads across the enterprise to ensure alignment on financial results

Roll-out and direct the Clean Data Program to include:

  • IdentifyingMcKesson’s clean data opportunities, prioritize largest/easiest items and createplan to roll-out and implement

  • Determinetarget audience of owners, leaders, largest influencers (i.e. admins)

  • Createguidelines/training to drive improved behaviors within the target audience

  • Determineprocess to be followed when unclean data is identified (i.e. determine owner,notify, follow-up to confirm future compliance)

  • Determinewhere systems or processes can be implemented to eliminate errors (reducemanual entries)

Work closely with financial systems team as new intelligent chart of accounts are built out and defined

Lead Change Management efforts around Reporting. Work closely with the Blankenship team to ensure the right audience is being targeted, develop plan for overarching governance across the many different BUs/Corporate Functions, ensure proper communications and training is developed to ensure reporting is well received and actioned on by leaders.

Track value against spend business case across the enterprise

Minimum Requirements

10 years finance experience including 7 years managerial experience

Critical Skills

  • Proven Executive Leadership experience.

  • Prior experience tracking value against spend business cases.

  • Lead Reporting working team to ensure program success.

  • Success with having led Change Management efforts around Reporting.

Education

MBA preferred in finance or related field or equivalent experience
