Position Description

This position supports the Business Intelligence needs of internal McKesson business unit customers. The candidate’s primary responsibility will be designing and implementing user interfaces optimized for: metrics, storytelling, and automation solutions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Iterate sketches, mockups, wireframes, and web interfaces to maximize usability of dashboards and reduce cognitive burden on users

  • Partner with BI developers to ensure UI integrity throughout the development life-cycle

  • Innovate interfaces that allow users to engage with and make decisions based on data and analytics (graphical and non-graphical)

  • Raise design improvement ideas to manager and share new learning with the development team

  • Capture, document, and communicate best practices with internal design Community of Practice

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop graphical user interfaces that delight and engage users of existing systems.

  • Compile analytic insights and business recommendations into coherent stories for business cases presented to Executives.

  • Collaborate with customers and developers to ensure all business requirements are met and products are maintainable

  • Partner with the local Community of Practice to ensure a common design language for internal Business Intelligence products

Minimum Requirements

2 years graphics design experience

Critical Skills

  • 5 years related professional experience implementing user interfaces based upon established design principles.

  • Portfolio of successful data visualization or infographic examples highly recommended.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • You are a creative thinker, able to translate concepts into usable interface designs. You have a solid understanding of interaction design and fundamental graphic design principles. You keep up-to-date with the latest design trends, and are constantly evolving and growing your design style.

  • Clear ability to communicate ideas through wireframes, mockups, sketches, and written specifications

  • Knowledge of best practices and tools used in user­focused design

  • Ability to quickly experiment and iterate on interface and interaction concepts

  • Knowledge of web frameworks and CSS standards

  • Experience developing accessible websites or mobile applications (Section 508, W3C WAI Guidelines, etc.).

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects

  • Team-oriented contributor with commitment to excellence

  • Comfort with customer interaction and requirements gathering

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Familiarity with Tableau considered a plus


B.A. in Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent related experience.
