McKesson Analyst Developer in Munster, Ireland


The McKesson Ireland IT Department provide technology services to multiple McKesson business entities in Ireland and Internationally. The successful candidate will design, implement and maintain software applications that support McKesson Ireland’s customer requirements. He/she will work within the guidelines of the Quality Management System to ensure systems are maintained in line with validation protocols. In addition, the postholder is responsible for developing and delivering bespoke solutions that enable the business to work efficiently and cost effectively.


  • Maintain current applications and databasesto meet business demands; monitorapplications to ensure maximum performance

  • Integrate new technologies into theenvironment as required

  • Update applications and databases in linewith technological advancements andensure compatibility requirements are met, with minimum technology disruption

  • Work closely with business unit customersto assess, document and review requirements; effectively prioritizing anddeveloping IT requirements based on business needs

  • Ensure security protocol and best practicesare adhered to ensure maximum availability of applications and databases

  • Comply with McKesson development, test andgo-live practices

  • Design database tables and write storedprocedures to support new and existing applications

  • Total quality management of the websites,including evaluation of links and usability

  • Ensure all systems are sufficiently testedto meet existing standards

  • Maintain cross platform and cross browsercompatibility so that the applications are accessible from a variety ofdifferent environments

  • Work with consultants on major systemenhancements, ensuring customer and regulatory requirements are met

  • Engage in ad hoc projects as required tosupport business and regulatory requirements; conduct business analysis,coordinate stakeholder meetings, define requirements, draft specifications,coordinate UAT, design and deliver application training, and project deploymentand close out

  • Design and develop reports to produce keyperformance metrics

  • Adhere to H&S and 6Sregulations/guidelines

Relevant third level IT qualification


  • 5 years working with Microsoft developmenttechnologies with particular emphasis on Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server,ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET Web Forms, C# and SQL Server

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience of working in a regulatedmulti-national organisation is preferable

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Complete working knowledge of ASP, ASP.NET,ASP.NET MVC, Visual Studio, C#, LINQ to SQL, Entity Framework, SQL Server(stored procedures, database administration & maintenance), Team FoundationServer, JavaScript, CSS, HTML

  • Strong focus on quality and automated testing,experience in TDD environment preferable

  • Excellent verbal and written communicationskills; with the ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language

  • Proven ability to build and sustain effectiverelationships with clients, working with a customer focused approach

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part ofa cross functional team to accomplish goals

  • Excellent organisational and timemanagement skills, with the ability toplan and execute short and long termgoals

  • Flexible and adaptable to meet changing businessrequirements
