Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturer Solutions, The Manager of Manufacturer Solutions is a working manager who will generate interest and nurture growth of new and emerging business. Responsible for building an account strategy that consistently delivers solutions that are integrated, synchronized and advantageous to the client and profitable to the Company. The Manager of Manufacturer Solutions is is the face of the company to our customers and delivers knowledge to them regarding the offerings of all McKesson.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

  • Developing, maintaining and communicating a formal account strategy and portfolio of key growth opportunities

  • Proactive identification and communication of the customer's short term and long term strategic objectives;

  • Accurately capture and qualify leads gathered from tradeshows, webinars, inbound calls, and other marketing initiatives

  • Develop relationships with new leads to learn about their business and uncover business opportunities; Assess viability of every prospect in the sales pipeline

  • Advise & work in tandem with the Directors of Business Development and advise when it is beneficial to have the Directors meet with the potential client.

  • Build prospect lists; contact development

  • Maintains intelligence on upcoming challenges, technology developments and products in business segments.

  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis.

  • Representing the voice of customer to thesenior management team on important/urgent issues;

  • Building customer intimacy with the key senior level functional areas within the account;

  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts

  • Involves and coordinates necessary McKesson personnel to support achievement of customer needs while meeting performance objectives.

  • Actively gather competitive intelligence within the business environment, including client groups, competitors within the industry and government departments.

  • Review database to identify trends, issues regarding performance of program services

Section B – General Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality standards maintained with respect to project deliverables and client interactions.

  • Provide professional internal/external presentations.

  • Share technical and competitive information with colleagues and provide expertise to others when required.

  • Promotes cooperation within own team as well as between groups and with other departments.

  • Participate in business development activities as subject matter expert on areas of expertise.

  • Follow company policies in in pursuing business opportunities, including ethical and health & safety policies, and submitting expenses.

Section C – Position Requirements


  • Five (5) years’ experience in roles responsible for direct sales and marketing in a healthcare related company

  • Master’s degree (M.A) or equivalent; or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Formal clinical training an asset.

  • Strong financial and business acumen and the ability to create and defend a business case;

  • Demonstrated experience in developing strategic account strategy

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts;

  • Solid experience in working with and communicating strategies and opportunities to an executive, account management, and business unit operations teams;


  • A professional, confident, and strategic relationship builder;

  • Strong executive presence, ability to deal with senior executives and manage their accounts

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills;

  • Strategic perspective with an ability to effectively manage the details;

  • Positive, "can-do" attitude and customer focused approach;

  • Ability to influence with or without authority;

  • Exercises sound knowledge and good judgment;

  • Accountable and results oriented;

  • Collaborative and capable of functioning with confidence and credibility at the senior level of the client organization;
