The HRBP partners with the Business; particularly with members of the leadership team to leverage the strategy and to drive needed business results. Act as a strategic partner, employee mediator, operations manager, and emergency responder. Provides coaching and consulting services to People Managers in order to continuously improve employee engagement, productivity and organizational performance. Responsible for delivering HR policies and programs within assigned Customer groups and is consulted for policy interpretation and development. For the Unionized sites, advises as to the appropriate interpretation of legislation, policy, and collective agreement interpretation and implementation. In collaboration with Operations Management, maintains ongoing communication with union counterparts, chairs joint union/management and grievance meetings. Manages the grievance and arbitration process. Resolves and/or litigates formal and informal disputes with appropriate administrative bodies. Provides training related to collective agreement and policy administration. Provides assistance to the collective agreement bargaining process.
Duties and responsibilities generally include, but are not limited to:
Acts as business partner to client groups; provides full support in the areas of HR and strategic planning.
Provides analysis and recommendations in such areas as talent acquisition and management, organizational assessment, performance management, organizational structure, work force planning and change management.
Coach/advise People managers, in liaison with the OD, Training, Compensation and Benefits specialists as required, in all areas of Human Resources management and planning, particularly in the areas of talent acquisition, succession planning, employee training and development, employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, and compensation in the assigned business units/departments;
Leads and manages all human resources activities to ensure the right people are in place and prepared to meet the challenges of the business. Responsible for acquiring the best talent required in the business units/departments;
Recommends designs and facilitates implementation of solutions to ensure alignment with the client group strategic development and long term planning.
Support the implementation (incl. launches) of all HR programs and activities, such as recruitment, performance management and compensation, collective bargaining, employee engagement, etc
Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, to maintain an engaged workforce and to retain the best talent.
Counsels and coaches client group management team on governance of effective and efficient HR policies, annual programs and processes within the assigned Business unit;
Ensures service levels are met and assist in facilitating open, constructive communication among all functional areas of human resources.
Communicates and follows procedures and practices to ensure integrity of Human Resources data for client group
Maintain close relations/liaise with colleagues at Corporate HR to ensure synergies across business units
Maintains expert working knowledge of environmental factors influencing the business (I.e., HR legislation, best practices trends.
Leads or participates in national HR projects and contributes to HR and business line initiatives.
Collaboratively works with other Business Partners, HR Managers and regional HR staff in developing and implementing innovative, timely and cost effective best practices across the HR department.

Bilingual (where applicable)
Able to use office software; Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Peoplesoft or other HRIS
Bachelors degree, in HR field, management or the equivalent
7-10 years experience in an HR capacity, preferably in an HR Business Partner structure /model
Experience in working with corporate client groups
CHRP designation is an asset
