Reporting to the Manager Pharmacy Operations and Pricing, the Pricing Specialist is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of all pharmacy pricing initiatives. This individual will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure the best possible results in the interest of our members.
Build recommended strategies through an understanding of National and Provincial requirements, competitive analysis and effective prioritization/identification of critical dependencies
Review key performance indicators and pharmacy sales data to identify, analyze, and assess pricing models.
Evaluate pricing requests from members to identify opportunities in optimizing margin and to resolve pricing issues and drive forward various pricing initiatives
Gain member commitment on pricing strategies, perform appropriate revisions, and create reporting to measure/track impact of changes to margin and revenue
Work closely with members to address and resolve any pharmacy pricing issues in a timely manner
Drive member participation in pricing initiatives
Monitor and understand the competitive landscape and gather market pricing information.
Utilize competitive pricing data to formulate profitability models and present pricing recommendations.
Maintain pricing and profitability models
Liaise and maintain relationships with third party providers and communicate upcoming changes to members
Maintain and build strong relationships with independent store network.
Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with human resources policies, procedures and practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Strong understanding of Provincial Pharmacy Pricing models
Relevant experience in the strategic development of pricing strategies, financial reporting/analysis, and complex analytic/problem solving
College diploma or University degree required
3-5 years Retail Pharmacy experience
Experience working with a Third Party provider an asset
Strong working knowledge of Excel
Experience with Nexxsys/Pharmaclik Rx, Kroll and other pharmacy dispensing software
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Self-starter and results-oriented
Strong analytical and research skills
Well-refined interpersonal skills, able to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
Superior communication skills both verbal and written
Travel may be required
