Current Need

McKesson's High Volume Solutions division has an opening for a Mechanical Design Engineer. Ideally this position will be based in our Malvern, PA office but candidates in Pittsburgh, PA, Atlanta, GA and possible remote based candidates will be considered. This position requires 25-50% overnight travel.

Position Description

• Lead and own design, development and commercialization of new engineering modules to be included in an automated conveyor setting

• Create and assess engineering requirements for new modules, stations and designs

• Gather voice of the customer on potential designs and improvements

• Prioritize engineering initiatives ideas

• Prepare and modify engineering and electrical wiring diagrams for central fill, specialty and mail order pharmacy systems using both manual and computer-aided systems such as AutoCAD.

• Work with third party vendors to ensure correct materials, electrical requirements, etc.

• Work with sales engineering to ensure appropriate commercialization

• Provide engineering support assistance for quality issues as required.

• Conduct miscellaneous technical data generation and analysis of our systems.

• Communicate designs and improvements with other internal organizations such as Software Engineering, Product Support, Sales and Purchasing, as well as external customers and suppliers.

• Assist with change management and driving adoption both internally and externally

• Assist with developing engineering strategy that aligns with product strategy

• Assist with project management of customer installs and/or upgrades.

• Travel to customer sites as needed.

Minimum Requirements

4 years Mechanical Engineering experience

Critical Skills

• Detailed knowledge of flexible automation.

• Proficient with AutoCAD

• Self-motivated and willing to be a change agent facilitating improvements across the department and organization

• Strong analytical and Excel skills as well as problem-solving skills with attention to details

Additional Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with central fulfillment automation is preferred

• Exposure to product management, technical product management, or project management is a plus.

• EIT (Engineering in Training for PE certification) is preferred

• Understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies is preferred

• Career drive with desire to expand reach into other areas of a product/services organization

• Demonstrated self-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong ability to work in a cross functional environment

• Collaborative, customer-focused and able to create visible value


BS degree or equivalent experience in mechanical and system design.


• EIT (Engineering in Training for PE certification) is preferred
