As a member of the retail learning team within McKesson’s Retail Banner Services, the Instructional Designer role will use their extensive knowledge of learning theory and instructional design processes to create contextually-rich, objective-driven learning solutions. The design and development process includes assessing learner needs and styles, defining learning objectives, creating the learning environment, supporting the implementation of the training and evaluating the effectiveness of the curriculum. In addition to a strong instructional design background, your role within the learning team will require passionate facilitation of learning events from training to presentations. This role will partner closely with key business partners to translate business intent into engaging learning solutions that incorporate behavioral best as a means to address business initiatives.
Conduct training assessments including needs analyses and task analyses as a primary measure to collect relevant data and recommend strategic learning solutions.
Partner with internal Subject Matter Experts to gain insight into the subject areas and design creative educational approaches utilizing adult learning theory.
Complete instructional design documentation outlining the learning strategy, stakeholder objectives, learning objectives and modalities to achieve stakeholder sign-off.
Develop training curricula utilizing blended learning approaches including highly interactive eLearning, web-based training and instructor-led training.
Schedule, facilitate and support training sessions through online delivery tools that incorporate instructional strategies and accommodate adult learning styles.
Create training participant guides, facilitator guides, job aids and performance support deliverables as requested or required to support learning solutions.
Design, develop and implement measurement and evaluation strategies through the LMS to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of learning solutions on performance.
Serve as one of the LMS administrators responsible for curriculum management, user management and event creation.
Engage in effective project management practices to oversee the entire course development process to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
Prepare presentations and materials depending on programs and needs.
Participates in Learning & Development team meetings, brainstorming sessions, conference calls and special project teams.
Ensures company policies are observed.
Ensures good communications with all levels of the company.
Perform other duties as assigned to support McKesson Canada.
Section B – Key Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Psychology, or other equivalent curriculum that focuses on learning.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in design and development of complete life cycle learning solutions in a corporate setting.
Expertise in Experiential Learning Theory is preferred.
Expertise with eLearning authorizing software is required (i.e. Storyline or Lectora)
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Software is preferred (i.e. Illustrator, Audition, After Effects, Premiere and/or Photoshop)
Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications and web conferencing tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and WebEx).
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems is an asset.
Experience in a pharmaceutical and/or hospital environment is an asset.
Ability to work independently and within a cross function team environment.
Strong ability to understand pharmacy retail and simplify it for customers.
Strong teamwork skills;
Planning and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Must be flexible
Bilingual an asset.
