Job Summary

The McKesson Canada Technical Analyst (Linux) is responsible for supporting the company’s Linux Platform by applying all related Linux Patches using Red Hat Satellite

Specific work hours will be Monday to Friday and requirement of weekend work for production patching weekends. This work schedule will vary depending on the progress of the business needs.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Certain responsibilities associated with this role are included in Section B. Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions within the Linux environment for Patch Management.

  • Test, validate, and implement Linux Patches before they become operational in production.

  • Document and maintain the patch management process for the Linux Platform.

  • Collaborate with the necessary teams on the Patch Management process and schedule.

  • Ensure that requirements to internal and external customers are met in a timely and cost-effective manner; solicit feedback from customers to identify opportunities to improve products and/or services.

  • Apply decision-making authority and autonomy needed to deliver accountabilities of job/role; seek approval from others on matters outside of job/role scope; when required, make decisions regarding the work and development of project team members.

Position Requirements


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a large enterprise within the technical Linux environment.

  • Result driven individual capable of leading operations, automation and ensure successful outcomes.

  • Advanced level knowledge of Red Hat Satellite Server Architecture, , Virtualization

  • Maintain security patching and compliancy for Cybersecurity Initiative

Ability to:

  • Take ownership of complex situations and work within a team environment to resolve issues effectively.

  • Quickly understand complex problems and develop solutions to resolve issues expediently.

  • Think out of the box regarding Business architectural, analysis and planning.

  • Effective written and oral communications skills in English and French are essential.
