Job description

Based at the head office in Saint-Laurent, the incumbent’s general role will be to provide advice and assistance to company management and internal functions regarding the execution of contracts for health care institutions in Quebec. To do so, the pharmacist consultant will ensure good communication between professionals from the various institutions, provide suggestions for improving business processes, and ensure the integrity of the customer record and the product database.

In addition, the incumbent will serve as the pharmaceutical liaison between health care institutions and McKesson Canada.

General responsibilities

  • Attend symposia and conferences as required by management.

  • Find solutions to our clients’ various problems.

  • Advise the company in developing long-term strategies.

  • Actively take part in maintaining good client relationships.

Specific responsibilities

  • Maintain ongoing contact with the pharmacists at the various institutionsserved.

  • Make recommendations to improve the quality of reports submitted to the health care institutions.

  • Document back orders and make any necessary corrections.

  • Attend quarterly meetings with our clients.

  • Make recommendations for the safe storage and transport of certain products.

  • Attend regional meetings to learn about variations in medication use.

  • Assist with forecasting of cyclic medications.

  • Set up a chemical equivalent (substitute) system at the company so as to reduce the number of backordered products.

  • Ensure the accuracy of client data for executing contracts and make sure clients receive the correct data to make requests for proposals and non-negotiated products to be included in reports, by therapeutic class.

  • Maximize the potential of our service offering.

  • Provide support, as required, to the MDM team in optimizing the database.

  • Perform all other tasks specified in the contract or as requested by the supervisor.


Requirements & competencies

  • Pharmacy management experience at a health care institution, ideally a hospital (required)

  • Able to travel on occasion

  • Familiar with the following software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

  • Independent

  • Able to work as part of a team

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in French
