Job Summary

The Supervisor, Accounting will be responsible to provide accurate and timely financial data on which to base planning, performance evaluation and operating decisions. Ensures (a) adherence to McKesson Canada’s accounting and control policies and practices (b) the integrity of management and accounting reporting and (c) the safeguarding of assets. The Supervisor will work closely with the Finance Corporate group.

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

  • Directs the preparation and interpretation of (a) financial statements, (b) regular and special financial reports, (c) statistical reports and (d) trend analysis.

  • Manages Corporate policies and procedures specific to Finance & Control as well as systems processes and ensures adherence.

  • Manages and resolves new projects, new initiatives and day to day issues.

  • Manages and ensure reporting systems, procedures and controls in place, provide prompt and accurate reporting on operations and help safeguard assets.

  • Develops and implements additional procedures needed to improve internal controls, increase operating efficiency or further safeguard of the assets.

  • Provides support on customer projects or new business opportunities through coordination and preparation of financial analysis.

  • Makes recommendations on proposed expenditures.

  • Addresses internal, external and SOX audit concerns. When necessary, implements corrective measures.

Section B – General Responsibilities

  • Plans the activities of his/her staff; assesses results and takes appropriate measures to improve performance.

  • Determines the human resources required to carry out work; delegates responsibilities and appropriate authority to his/her staff; recommends structural changes when necessary.

  • Directs activities of staff and coordinates with other groups and departments.

  • Trains employees; evaluates their performance; encourages and assists them with their development.

  • Approves requisitions, expenses and other financial transactions within his/her authority; protects income and assets of the company against loss and waste.

  • Ensures that company policies are respected.

  • Maintains appropriate communications with all levels of the organization.

Section C – Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Finance or Accounting. An MBA with a Finance background will also be considered.

  • CPA designation required or equivalence

  • Minimum 7 to 10 years of accounting and management experience, preferably in a global company

  • Advanced knowledge of an EPR system; Epicor an asset

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint).

  • Ability to challenge the status quo and make recommendations for improvements.

  • Capable of solving problems, making the right decisions and using sound judgement to escalate issues with recommendations when necessary

  • Strong people leader with ability to influence and build/or develop a strong financial team.

  • Strong team player with strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Strong analytical thinker, organized and autonomous

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Bilingual (written and oral)
