Current Need

McKesson Corporation is seeking a Project Manager to lead and support projects led by the Human Resources function necessary to execute on the business strategy and deliver value to the organization.

Position Overview

The Project Manager will play a vital role in key business projects for the Human Resources team. This role is responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of projects, programs and initiatives involving the HR department as well as cross-functional teams across the business unit and the enterprise. This individual will lead and/or support the delivery of a project or initiative from the design process through a finished state to achieve agreed upon outcomes and complete implementation. The project manager will interface with all areas affected by the project or initiative, which may include HR Leadership team members, shared services, as well as other departments within the business and enterprise. Responsible for defining and gaining agreement on the project scope and objectives that will be measured. Oversees and coordinates all aspects of the project or initiative.

This role plans and directs schedules, milestones, due dates as well as the project budget. The project manager assesses project issues, develops resolutions, gains support and alignment from key stakeholders. Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, budgets, and status reports. Leads and conducts meetings, owns the responsibility for tracking project deliverables, management of vendor tasks and deliverables. The individual will take the action necessary to direct the solution to problems through the project team. A large portion of the project management responsibilities will be focused in supporting the People Strategy for the Distribution Center Network Plans in Operations. This will require close partnership with the Sr. HRBP for Operations and the HRBP team as well as operations leaders. In addition, travel will be required to support these events, estimated to be 15%, but will vary based on established timelines.

The Project Manager also leads the coordination of retention and severance for the business unit HR team, including the tracking of forecasted expense with Finance. The role is responsible for managing the business unit HR home page, coordinating communication meetings and materials, as well as supporting team events and programs. Responsibilities also include managing responses to requests for proposals and bids related to business unit specific contracts, working with compliance, legal, payroll, and multiple human resources contacts. This individual will lead the HR team’s response to emergencies and disasters impacting our workforce in partnership with business leadership.

This role will report to the Sr. Director of Workforce Projects & Analytics, and will have a strong working partnership with other senior leaders on the HR Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will be certified or pursuing certification in Project Management, possess business acumen, with proven project management leadership. The individual must be able to navigate the complex organizational structure of McKesson and have demonstrated influencing skills. An execution orientation is vital to success at McKesson.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Manager responsible for leading and supporting critical projects lead by the HR function that have impact across the function, business unit and enterprise.

  • Lead matrix project teams, influence leaders and subject matter experts, monitor project plans, milestone achievement, and dependencies to achieve deliverables.

  • Communicate, track, report, the project status, critical issues, key dependencies and issues, etc.

Minimum Requirements

2 years experience in project management.

Critical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with MS Office

Additional Knowledge & Skills Preferred

  • Proficient in project management tools and processes

  • Paradox navigator; comfortable working with ambiguity and influencing in uncertain situations to achieve consensus and drive decision making

  • Ability to learn quickly and assimilate information to apply to the project or initiative

  • Strong collaboration, communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to manage conflicting objectives and maintain consistent and calm project delivery

  • PM certification preferred or in process

  • Experience leading cross functional, high impact, projects and initiatives

  • Experience with M&A and Human Resources preferred

Education

4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience
