Position Description

The Vice President,Product Strategy, Merchandising and Marketing Analytics leads a team of 35 employees and is responsible for developing a comprehensive merchandising and supplier marketing strategy and is accountable for leading the product strategy and marketing analytics group. Additionally, the role leads the customer segmentation team and is responsible for managing multiple third-party data relationships. The role efficiently manages large cross functional projects and is able to interface effectively with IT, marketing, category management and database management. For product strategy, this role creates and executes all merchandising programs while leading multiple analytics and data centric projects. The role is responsible for the go forward strategy for both supplier marketing and manufacturing services. The role manages a team of four associates to sell, manage and execute all aspects of the supplier marketing program and is responsible for all facets of the program including creating new elements, sun setting ineffective elements and executing marketing programs for over fifty manufacturers. Additionally, the person in this role will direct all analytics activities supporting the Product Strategy & Supplier partnerships and Marketing departments including reporting, predictive modeling, database management and general analytics. This role interacts internally and externally with executive level management requiring strong negotiations skills and the ability to be successful in extremely difficult matters to influence key decision makers. The role directs and controls the activities of several functional areas through senior managers with overall responsibility for the direction of those assigned areas and needs to demonstrate strong ability to be innovative and adept in data and analytical skills.

  • Development and socialization of the product strategy (merchandising) plans across the organization. This includes the creation and execution of new concepts as well the re-engineering of current company processes. Company champion of new concepts and ideas.

  • Develop the strategy for supplier marketing and manufacturer services. Partnering with category management leaders to sell the value proposition program to key suppliers. Work with internal partners to develop new product offerings. Manage key internal events such as HIDA and NSC.

  • Leadership of internal analytics support team for both the PSSP and Marketing teams. This includes the product conversion strategy and execution, cross-referencing, atomic unit of measure, integration data analytics, the ownership of 3 rd party data sources such as GHX and IMS and visualization tools such as Tableau, OBI and Power BI. Measurement of the effectiveness of go-to-market model and marketing campaigns, predictive analytics, customer lifecycle metrics and reporting.

  • Leadership of the Master Data Management program and the execution of the customer segmentation data.

  • Development of on-line merchandising strategies to foster sales growth and profitability drivers for direct to customer programs.

  • Leadership of team through vision development, goal setting and results review.

Minimum Requirements

  • 12 years of marketing experience including 10 years managerial experience

Critical Skills

  • Marketing experience should be inclusive of product management, merchandising, or category management

  • 7 Experience in merchandising and/or e-commerce marketing

  • Strategy Development and Business Planning

  • Product Merchandising driven by product and marketing analytics

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience working with online marketplaces

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and bring innovation to an organization

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed, cross functional environment

  • Deep understanding of merchandising concepts, on-line marketing capabilities and financial profitability levers

  • Experience building supplier value programs or other marketing skills are essential

  • Ability to collect and analyze data

  • Solid knowledge of company's products and services

Education

  • 4-year degree in Marketing, Business or related field or equivalent experience
