Manages and coordinates the activities of the Transportation department of the organization. Daily routing of Delivery Professionals utilizing Advanced Transportation tools. Coordinating daily loading procedures to ensure a prompt dock time departure. Weekly audits of vehicle cleanliness and condition. Scheduling of needed repair or service work. Weekly audits of fuel receipts and inspection reporting. Coordinates operation and maintenance of equipment, storage facilities, and repair facilities. Manages expenses and analyzes purchase and repair costs to control expenditures. Effectively communicating Corporate and local news and policies. Monthly one-on-one coaching discussions with drivers. May plan and direct safety campaigns. May negotiate with vendors to purchases automotive related materials and supplies. May assign trucks and passenger cars for use.
- 1-2 years transportation experience and demonstrated leadership skills
2-3 years transportation experienceincluding at least 2 years managerial experience
Working knowledge of transportationmanagement practices and procedures
Excellent organizational skills andattention to detail
Experience managing, leading anddeveloping staff
Computer proficiency in MS Office
Excellent and effective businesscommunication skills both verbally and in writing
Ability to multi task in a fast-pacedenvironment and make strong business decisions
Demonstrated employee engagementskills
Must be open to flexible hours, Monday throughFriday with a start time as early as 4AM; must also be open to adjusting shiftand overtime as needed based on business requirements.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Dispatch or Roadnet experiencepreferred
Industry experience in logistics,supply chain, warehouse, manufacturing or distribution environmentpreferred
Skilled in interviewing, coaching,evaluation, discipline and record keeping
Focus on driving quality and processimprovement
Warehouse management systemsexperience a plus
Ability to effectively interpret and analyzedata
- 2-year degree preferred
High energy distribution center environment
May be required to work variousshifts, including nights and days.
Some overtime required
Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
Ability to pass DOT physical
