Position Description: Manager of Pharmacy Optimization

This position is responsible for establishing a plan of operational excellence across the In Office Dispensing customers. They will collaborate with the customers pharmacy and management staff, internal McKesson In Office Dispensing team, as well as supporting business functions (i.e. revenue cycle, purchasing, clinical, and GPO), to ensure we are meeting the evolving needs of our In Office Dispensing customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize In Office Dispensing programs of customers for efficiency and profitability

  • Assist with defining and implementing best practices for workflow, inventory, and formulary. Develop the tools necessary for implementing these best practices and deploy to accounts.

  • Build standard reporting package(s) and analytics for running of the pharmacy business

  • Support roll-out and practice adoption of strategic initiatives and new product development through data analysis

  • Provide Quarterly Business reviews to customers around their IOD business

Minimum Requirements

8 years of pharmacy experience including 5 years managerial experience (Please note that specific business units minimum years of experience may be different, and may require pharmacy certification depending on state law)

Critical Skills

Five years of healthcare leadership experience with a proven track record of successful leadership in the healthcare field.

Operations Management experience.

Retail Pharmacy experience a plus.

Direct experience providing services and solutions to meet customer needs.

Strong business and financial acumen, and in depth critical thinking leading to sound business decisions.

Additional Knowledge & Skills

Thorough knowledge of inventory management, pharmaceutical receiving/shipping operations, and state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services. Proficient in the use of new medications and technology. Detail oriented with excellent computer and communication skills.

  • Strong influencing skills and comfortable in a consensus building environment.

  • Experience in retail pharmacy or in-office dispensing operations and workflow processes

  • A demonstrated track record of improving operational efficiencies.

  • Basic level of oncology knowledge and emerging trends

  • 60% - 70% travel required

Education

4-year degree and must be a Registered Pharmacist

Certifications/Licensures

Pharm.D. or equivalent a plus
