Current Need

Position Description

The Business Operations Associate will be responsible for coordinating the internal work of the Specialty Information and Technology Solutions (I&TS) Portfolio Strategy and Operations team and implementing both Small and Medium size projects in support of the team. The Business Operations Associate will have to able to work with minimal direction in a fast-paced, continuously evolving environment and proactively problem solve and generate recommendations for improvement. Duties may include, but are not limited to, helping the Director of Portfolio Strategy and Business Operations to monitor and manage the work and progress of segment-specific and cross-segment efforts across the I&TS Portfolio; document, enforce, and continually evolve optimal internal team policies and processes; track and manage the overall team/division’s budget and spend; and plan and run key meetings involving the Portfolio Strategy and Operations team.

Key Responsibilities:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Collaborates with the Director of PortfolioStrategy and Business Operations and Portfolio Strategy Managers to track thescope, budget, and timelines of key initiatives across the I&TS portfolio ata consolidated level and generate appropriately calibrated updates forcommunication to outside audiences

  • Works with the Director to implement andcontinually improve optimal team systems and processes to supportefficient information sharing,collaboration, and coordination within and outside of the I&TS team

  • Supports enterprise or other cross-functionallevel initiatives that directly or indirectly support the broader McKessonTechnology Strategy and ensures that information is fed back to the I&TSteam appropriately

  • In partnership with the Director, plansagenda/logistics and supports internal, cross-functional team, client meetings/forums

  • Maintains consolidated department and team levelProject Plans and tracking logs as appropriate

  • Facilitates internal and external teamcommunications—e.g., drafting of key announcements/newsletters, maintainingteam website, etc.

  • Serves as co-administrator to team accounts,tools, systems and assists Program Managers in defining appropriateteam/initiative specific policies and processes

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Monitors department/team level budget againstplan on a monthly basis and works with Portfolio Directors/Managers and ProgramManagers to conduct analysis if established thresholds are not met

  • Assists Director in identifying and solving forrecurring budgetary variances and shortfallsand/or other opportunities to optimize department spend

Minimum Requirements

Entry-level experience in project management

Critical Skills

  • 2 years formal project management and managingdiverse teams experience

  • Ability to manage multiple projects towardeffective solutions and according to budget and timelines

  • Detailed understanding and experience withprocess documentation and improvement

  • Intermediate financial and statistical analysisskills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suiteincluding MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Project and MS Visio

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • PMP certification preferred

  • Agile, Six Sigma certification and practicalapplication experience preferred

  • Healthcare or pharmaceutical industry, highlypreferred

Education

4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience
