McKesson is seeking a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join the McKesson Enterprise Technology and Services group as a key player in its Agile Transformation in the Supply Chain Services space. Success in this role will involve a sharp focus on delivery to product roadmaps and flow of customer value, a keen ability to facilitate discussions of ART dependencies and risks, and coaching leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Agile and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFE) practices and mindsets.
This position can be located in our San Francisco or Las Colinas office. Requires 10 – 20% travel.
The RTE role is closely aligned with the Program Increment (PI) quarterly planning cycle. The RTE will work closely with development teams to facilitate best practices for feature refinement in preparation for planning, lead effective PI status communications and coordination with stakeholders during feature definition and delivery, and track and produce key program metrics.
This role will engage with Mid to Senior-level Technology and Business Leaders throughout the org. The RTE will have expertise to advise and inspire teams to the best use of SAFE disciplines and approaches within a fast-paced, high tech environment and bring new/innovation solutions to complex problems.
Accountable for driving the strategic, org-wide execution of the SAFe construct and the PI Flow.
Work with Program Leaders and key executive stakeholders to drive ongoing clarity of strategy, decisions, and execution alignment.
Drive visibility and transparency of dates, milestones, and dependencies throughout the PI Process.
Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration and commitment across multiple disparate groups (programs) with competing priorities.
Foster constructive and pro-active communication across organizational boundaries to ensure PI goals and priorities, key decisions, and status is clear to all.
Be an advocate and educator within McKesson of Agile and SAFE best practices. Maintain a strong connection with resources outside the organization to bring in recent research, data, and tools that can continue to mature Agile at McKesson.
Assess skill sets to coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Agile practices and mindsets in planning, execution, and launch.
Optimize PI Planning readiness by utilizing SAFe processes.
Innovative and independent thought leadership to build new tools and processes. Strong proponent and practitioner of continuous improvement techniques including automation and self-service tools.
Typically has 7 years relevant experience
Proven track record of SAFe software development/delivery.
Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
Strong experience in program governance, delivery and management.
Able to drive the process, cadence and ceremonies across Release Planning, Scrum of Scrum, ART Sync and Program Increments.
Strong experience in Agile metrics and building portfolio/dashboard views.
Comprehensive knowledge of communication planning, risk management and risk mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated working knowledge in using collaboration tools such as Agile Central or comparable wiki/collaboration tools.
Ability to identify trends and “tell the story” behind large amounts of data.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, specifically targeted to a Sr Leadership audience. Solid executive presence.
Solid interpersonal skills; able to effectively organize & communicate with cross-functional teams.
Supply chain experience
Performed in the Scrum Master role
Strong analytical skills; demonstrated experience in translating conceptual, sometimes ambiguous requirements from business owners into detailed business and functional requirements with an emphasis toward scalable and efficient global solutions.
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
SAFe Certified preferred but not required
