Current Need

The Senior Sourcing Manager is responsible for strategic sourcing and category management across a defined commodity space. This individual will leverage their knowledge of software (SW), platform and software as a service (PaaS /SaaS), and related services, to present market opportunities to internal customers and guide sourcing decisions with original equipment manufacturer (OEMs), value added resellers (VARs), hosting/cloud providers, and system integrators. Working together with IT, Legal, Finance, various risk-assessing organizations, and internal customers, the Senior Sourcing Manager will ensure that McKesson is buying the right product or service from the right supplier at the right price, in support of our IT transformation and aggressive value creation goals.

Position Description

Responsible for overseeing activities related to the procurement of materials, parts, components, and equipment. Directs the activities of buyers and expediters to accomplish company objectives. Reviews and approves purchases up to a specified dollar amount. May negotiate major contracts involving large dollar amounts. Develops policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities. Monitors the cost, schedule and performance aspects of major subcontracts. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels. May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system.

  • Owns category management for the subset of IT software and as-a-a-service products and related services in one of the following areas:

  • Deriving value from McKesson’s data through databases (traditional and nontraditional), data inventory, data quality, data integration, master data management, data visualization, extract, transform, and load (ETL) / extract, load, and transform (ELT) tools

  • Improving McKesson’s engagement with customers through omni channel eCommerce, analytics, and retail (e.g. point of sale and loyalty program) capabilities, and order-to-cash, marketing automation, customer relationship management, and connectivity (such as electronic document interchange) tools

  • Delivering value-added services to provider- and manufacturing partners through electronic medical records, clinical decision support, provider and patient portals, adherence, and pharmacy optimization and automation tools

  • Creates an annual Category Strategy that examines the market, supplier offerings, current and future needs, and aligns with IT on a 1-3 year plan

  • Works with internal stakeholders on current and future IT objectives and business opportunities

  • Converts potential projects into actionable sourcing events; drives people and processes to successful, timely completion

  • Creates RFX documents and other sourcing materials necessary to ensure leverage is created/maintained with suppliers

  • Generates cost savings through contract negotiations, demand management, technology transformation, and innovation

  • Researches industry trends to stay aware of technology, suppliers, and best practices

  • Communicates sourcing and technology opportunities to McKesson stakeholders

  • Operates within a consultative, programmatic seven-step sourcing approach

  • Maintains a Supplier Relationship Management program for our top strategic suppliers

  • Works with other shared services groups on contract development, including Legal, Finance, Compliance, Privacy, Risk Management, and Information Security

  • Manages risk through sound business practices, contract terms and conditions, and operational continuity plans

  • Ensures compliance with company policies, procedures and regulatory requirements

  • Assists with developing, maintaining, and enforcing Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

  • Conducts self and the category with the highest ethical standards, ensuring that decisions are objective and fact-based

  • Serves as point of escalation for commercial and contractual supplier issues

  • Provides biweekly/monthly updates on project status and opportunities

Minimum Requirements

5 years Strategic Sourcing or IT Operations, actively managing IT suppliers and contracts

Critical Skills

  • 5 years Strategic Sourcing or IT Operations, actively managing IT suppliers and contracts

  • Expertise in eRFX, contract and analytics tools. (eSourcing tool or software)

  • Advanced IT negotiation skills

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Category knowledge and experience sourcing data-related SW/ IaaS / PaaS / SaaS

  • Experience engaging customers through omni channel eCommerce, analytics, and retail (e.g. point of sale and loyalty program) capabilities, and order-to-cash, marketing automation, customer relationship management, and connectivity (such as electronic document interchange) tools

  • Familiarity with Fortune 500 Carriers, OEMs, and VARs, as well as smaller software-based challengers/disruptors and major open source communities

Education

4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience. Emphasis in Business, Finance, IT, or Supply Chain preferred
