Remote Based Opportunity

Position Description

The Oncology In-Office Specialty Pharmacy Director will be part of the Pharmacy Solutions Team and is responsible for leading and executing The US Oncology Network’s In-Office Specialty Pharmacy strategic direction. This role collaboratively works with Network practices to develop business plans and deliver results promoting expansion of oral oncolytics’ revenue and EBIT contribution for Network practices. This role will drive strategy to ensure revenue and profit across Network’s in-office dispensaries. This role will evaluate the market and industry opportunity and will actively identify areas for incremental revenue growth, target growth opportunities and direct/drive the plan toward realization of targets with internal and client stakeholders.

The Pharmacy Solutions Team is scaling its service significantly and this is a key role supporting successful Network pharmacy initiative deployments and partnering with internal stakeholders to support new initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Director of Pharmacy Solutions, this role will provide overall strategic direction and guidance to all Network In-Office Dispensing and Retail Pharmacy services.

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of clinical pharmacy operation strategy for USON. The Director of Pharmacy Operations works collaboratively with USON practices, leadership and MSH leadership to implement processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality comprehensive cost-effective pharmacy services that meet regulatory, quality and contractual obligations. Supports the efforts of The Network operations team, GPO, Managed Care, USOR and clinical content services. Participates with the pharmacy operations team to establish USON strategic plans and objectives. Directs the Pharmacy Operations within the assigned practices.

Drive strategy to ensure revenue and profit across Network’s in-office dispensaries:

  • create business plans for growth of Network practices that MSH serves.

  • works collaboratively with Network practices, leadership and MSH leadership to implement processes and procedures to ensure the delivery of high quality comprehensive cost-effective pharmacy services that meet regulatory, quality and contractual obligations.

Manage Network relationships, identify, monitor, analyze and interpret client performance, identify strategic growth opportunities, provide recommendations and coach Network practices around their in-office dispensary strategies.

  • Supports the efforts of The Network pharmacy strategic programs team, operations team, GPO, Managed Care

  • Engages with Network pharmacy stakeholders to establish Network strategic plans and objectives.

Evaluate the market and industry opportunity and will actively identify areas for incremental revenue growth, target growth opportunities and direct/drive the plan toward realization of targets with internal and client stakeholders.

Minimum Requirements

8 years of pharmacy experience including 5 years managerial experience (Please note that specific business units minimum years of experience may be different, and may require pharmacy certification depending on state law)

Critical Skills

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent required.

  • Active Pharmacist License required.

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Board Certified preferred.

  • 5 years of management in oncology specialty, retail, in-office dispensing pharmacies required.

  • Business development experience with community oncology practices preferred.

  • Knowledge of in-office pharmacy setting with strong working knowledge of community oncology practices.

  • Knowledge of payer, regulatory, compliance and licensure issues at the federal and state level relative to specialty and retail services.

  • Proven experience managing many diverse projects and programs related to specialty, retail, and compounding pharmacy services that have demonstrated positive results on patient outcomes are required.

  • Success managing ongoing relationships, including primarily by remote communications and technology (phone, email, web conference, O365).

Additional Knowledge and Skills

Thorough knowledge of inventory management, pharmaceutical receiving/shipping operations, and state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services. Proficient in the use of new medications and technology. Detail oriented with excellent computer and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve; to successfully look at system improvements in the clinical and

  • business areas and interact with stakeholders;

  • Ability to structure useful guidance around complex strategy decisions to influence and guide the decisions made by others;

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word;

  • Experience working in matrix environment is necessary for the person to succeed;

  • Strong orientation and commitment to external and internal customer service;

  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment;

  • Ability to form and articulate persuasive arguments based on analysis;

  • Proven ability to partner and work across boundaries to achieve results

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong critical thinking skills;

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize /follow-up;

  • Excellent ability to manage in a fast-paced growing environment;

  • Proven experience to support growth of Specialty and Retail Services.

  • Project management, problem solving skills are required and must be demonstrated through experience.

  • Proven fiscal management skills.

  • Travel up to 50% to client sites, business partners and internal meetings.

Education

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent required

  • Active registered pharmacist license required
