Current Need

McKesson’s well regarded Corporate Legal Department is seeking a Contract Specialist to provide contract support to one of its research businesses within its U.S. Pharma and Specialty Health Division.

Position Description

Responsibilities include reviewing, negotiating and drafting clinical trial agreements, amendments and related documents, interacting with clinical trial sponsors and sites on contract and operational issues, and various other initiatives and projects to support the research contracting process. Work through a diverse scope of contracting issues where analysis may require identification and evaluation of many relevant potential factors.

Minimum Requirements

2-year Associates degree and/or Paralegal Certificate with 6 years related work experience, or 4-year degree (preferred) with 4 years related work experience or JD with 1 years related work experience. Experience in contract negotiating and drafting is required. Experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry with a comprehensive understanding of clinical research is required. Familiarity with a site management organization (SMO) model is a plus.

Critical Skills

  • 1 years’ experience drafting and reviewing contracts related to clinical trial research or other research involving human subjects

  • 1 years’ experience in contract negotiations related to clinical trial research or other research involving human subjects

  • Consults on legal provisions within contracts

  • Identifies, analyzes, researches and resolves legal and business process issues and makes appropriate recommendations

  • Identifies risk, determines the level of risk and routes appropriately

  • Works independently and is able to assess when to seek guidance of company attorneys

  • Communicates and observes timelines regarding completion of contracts

  • Handles multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, changing business environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail

  • Ability to operate effectively in an evolving role

  • Ability to manage related tasks and other responsibilities as assigned

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry with a comprehensive understanding of clinical research

  • Familiarity with a site management organization (SMO) model is a plus
