Position Description

McKesson’s well regarded Corporate Legal Department is seeking an experienced healthcare transactional and regulatory attorney to McKesson Specialty Health Pharmaceutical and Biotech Solutions, a business unit of McKesson Specialty Health focused on providing manufacturer clients strategic and comprehensive data and analytics solutions. Responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, amendments and related documents; interacting with internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, I.T., and account management functions and representing their needs and concerns when negotiating with the legal and contracting functions of clients and vendors, all with minimal oversight from supervising attorney. The successful attorney in this role will manage a diverse scope of contracting issues, requiring identification and evaluation of many business and legal issues simultaneously.

Minimum Requirements

6 years active legal practice in law firm or in-house environment;

Critical Skills

  • Significant experience personally reviewing,revising, drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, specificallyregarding commercial use of clinical and other health care data, as permittedunder applicable laws and regulations such as HIPAA ;

  • Preferred experience emphasis on healthcaretransactional and regulatory matters (in-house experience preferred);

  • Experience managing high-stakes negotiations andcompromises with other sophisticated corporate attorneys, within establishedguidelines and with minimal oversight from supervising attorney;

  • Experience with regulatory issue spotting,research, analysis, and risk mitigation in a highly regulated healthcareenvironment;

  • Strong background knowledge of healthcareindustry regulation, including strong emphasis on privacy and security laws andfederal and state fraud and abuse laws;

  • Extraordinary interpersonal skills andability to provide sound, clear and succinct legal advice and analysis to legalleadership and business teams;

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication andpresentation skills at all levels of an organization, including deliveringcomplex information to both legal colleagues and non-legal business leaders andforging trusted advisory relationships with same;

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects andrespond to competing business demands in a pragmatic, diplomatic, and capablefashion;

  • Ability to facilitate collaboration andcommunication among multiple internal departments ( e.g. , Compliance, Privacy, Risk Management, Finance, TechnicalAccounting, Sales, Marketing, and other legal and non-legal subject matterexperts).

Additional Knowledge & Skills

  • Healthcare, pharmaceutical, or life sciencesexperience strongly preferred

Education:

Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; Admitted to Texas Bar or immediately eligible for either in-house counsel registration or admission on motion in accordance with Texas rules.
