This position will strategically help to lead the Vantage Oncology accounting and month-end close functions for a number of Joint Ventures. The primary focus of this role is working with the Accounting and Finance teams to identify process improvement opportunities and drive them to completion while leading all month-end close activities. To be successful the candidate needs to be able to influence and persuade stakeholders throughout the organization and must embrace change throughout all levels of the organization.
Another main aspect of the role is to assist the management team with talent development to help build a strong accounting team who is positioned well to help foster and promote an environment that is conducive to accurate and reliable financial reporting. The candidate must be a talent champion, true believer in team development and empowerment, and be able to create a team atmosphere of continuous improvement to exceed the expected results.

This position will be responsible for:
Preparing, submitting and reviewing journal entries
Supervising staff accountant(s) and reviewing their work product
Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts (including complex accounting elements such as: Joint Ventures, lease accounting, revenue recognition, reserve assessments, and soft accruals).
Providing a record of assets, liabilities and other financial transactions and ensuring that the records are in accordance with internal controls over financial reporting under SOX.
Working closely with Finance and accounting leadership to close the books monthly.
Preparing and reviewing P&L expense analyses to compare current month activity with prior periods.
Preparing rent analyses to ensure proper recording of monthly rents and adjustments.
Preparing and/or interpreting reports and records for the management team
Ensuring that transactions are recorded properly in the financial statements and booking adjustments, when needed
Analyzing P&Ls and Balance Sheets for various business units and ensuring that the activity is appropriate and as expected
Researching and troubleshooting various transactions that arise
Responding to Finance team inquiries and requests
Supporting accurate intercompany recording and reporting, including proper eliminations
Assisting the management team through monthly close, analytics, and control activities
Participating in monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for the Joint Ventures
Participating in approval and review of monthly reconciliations
Leading and/or participating in ad hoc projects and analyses
Working closely with all McKesson Specialty Health accounting functions
Supporting multiple internal and external customers
Identifying opportunities for McKesson best practices and manage implementations of solutions for process improvements
Team management and talent development
Working, as needed, to meet the various competing priorities and deadlines within the established timeframes
Under supervision of accounting leadership, effectuates the month end close processes in complex accounting areas and reviews work of others to include but not limited to: preparation of journal entries, account variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliation review and internal control compliance.
Prepares and submits for review balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
Ad hoc analysis as requested

Minimum five years’ experience in public accounting or general industry accounting.
Advanced Excel skills (daily use of vlookups, pivot tables, heavy data manipulation, sumifs, if statements) required
Experience with monthly close, analytics, and control activities
Experience with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting for a client group
Experience with monthly reconciliations and ad hoc analysis
Talent development experience required
Experience supervising staff helpful
Health care experience preferred.
CPA or parts passed preferred.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Experience with PeopleSoft, Blackline, nVision reporting, Image Now, and Essbase beneficial
Typing and 10-key proficiency desired
SAP experience helpful
Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of people
Demonstration of understanding of complex accounting elements
Flexibility to meet departmental deadlines
4-year degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience
